Virginia Beach Maternity Photographer - First Landing Maternity Portraits

I was fortunate to see another one of my favorite families recently for a lifestyle session in Virginia Beach! Golden light, stunning river views, romantic Spanish Moss, the sweetest family ever...this session has it all!

You may remember the Josephs from this family photo session last fall. They were due for some updated pics and had some BIG news - they are expecting a new bundle of wonder this spring! Yay! We scheduled a family maternity session at First Landing State Park, and a newborn session for when that sweet babe arrives!

It was a chilly, but gorgeous evening when we met. The golden light and warm tones of the natural surroundings were a stunning backdrop for our session.  We bottled up some of those bittersweet family moments as they grow from a tight knit little family of 3, to a beautifully blessed family of 4. Family Lifestyle Session at First Landing State Park Virginia Beach Photographer

I have a sweet, sweet Virginia Beach family lifestyle session to feature for you today!

The Lovett Family contacted me to book a family lifestyle session after I photographed a family maternity session for Mom's sister last summer at Chick's Beach. Charlie (Mom) loved the photos I captured for her sister's family, and wanted a similar session for her own sweet little crew - only fall themed. So, we booked a date for early December at First Landing State Park. 

Despite a chilly start with a few sprinkles here and there, we pressed on and captured some fun, and silly, family moments among the wooded trails and unique waterfront vistas at the park. Their darling girl had just turned one, so we took a few extra photos of her at this sweet stage.

The fall color was gorgeous! Mom did an awesome job with the wardrobe for the whole family, which complimented those rich golden autumn tones.

Even though it was a cloudy, gray day, their images turned out with a warm and cozy feel. A whole lot of family love, some silly antics, and a dash Photoshop magic did the trick! ;)

I loved photographing this lovely little family! I am so happy I got to meet them, and can I just say that this entire family is ridiculously gorgeous? I mean, I was seriously smitten with the Dierstein's at their beach maternity session, and then this stunning crew rolls up. Look how adorable those little siblings are!! I bet they are just too cute for words when they get together their cousins. I'd probably just melt into a puddle if I had them all in front of my camera at once.

Fall Family Photo Session in Williamsburg, VA

I met the Smith family for a fall photo session in Williamsburg over Thanksgiving weekend. They are alumni of the College of William & Mary, and were in town visiting family for the holiday. We decided the William & Mary campus was the perfect spot for some gorgeous fall photos and we met there for our session. 

It was a brisk, breezy day, but so beautiful with all the color in the leaves! I love to keep my sessions moving, so that no one gets bored. We kept their kiddos busy playing games and running through leaves. Not only did it produce some awesome giggles, but it kept them warm in the wind too!

Perfect childhood moments. Can you think of a better way to spend a golden fall day?

I loved getting to know this beautiful family! I am so glad they schedule a lifestyle session for their visit to CW! It is one of my absolute favorite locations for fall sessions. The scenery never disappoints! And I got to sneak in a side trip for some delicious Colonial Williamsburg ginger cakes too - yum!

Norfolk Family Photographer - Holiday Mini Sessions

So many families! So many sneak peeks! I am working like crazy to keep up, and have a back log of sessions to share. I thought I'd combine a few peeks into one post to share some recent work with you. The fall color has finally peaked and we have had some beautiful sunny days. There are so many great locations in Hampton Roads for woodsy outdoor sessions too. Recently I have been to the Mariner's Museum Park, Oak Grove Lake Park, Great Neck Park, and First Landing State Park - all gorgeous this time of year!

I love meeting so many gorgeous families! I really am fortunate to have such amazing clients. 

Documenting the love and connection between families big and small, whether they are new faces and familiar friends, always warms my heart. I am SO thankful to have the opportunity to photograph so many beautiful souls. Six years ago I started out with a camera and a dream, and this journey has inspired me to grow and change in ways I could never have imagined. I will always be grateful for the many wonderful clients who have supported me along the way.

Several weeks ago I shared this maternity beach session with you, along with my excitement over having a new nephew on the way. And today, I finally have some newborn baby pics to share! This sweet bundle of melt-your-heart goodness was born in late July.

He is absolute perfection, and has the best big sister any dude could ask for.

His parents are pretty rad too. 

Look how sweet! Big sis' likes to sing to him. 

It has been a few years since we've had a baby in the family. My own "babies" are all big kiddos now, so I am eating those baby snuggles up!

I am so happy for my sister and brother-in-law! It's wonderful to have a healthy new babe to smooch on, and I'm SO excited to watch him grow up. <3

I can't tell you how happy it makes me that my amazing clients have little ones that I get to play with. My youngest is almost 7 now, and I miss those little giggles, squishy baby legs, and drooly chins. It's true, kiddos grow up waaaaay too fast. That's why I know I am incredibly fortunate to be able to photograph so many beautiful growing families! 

This little beauty and her mom and dad met me at First Landing State Park for some outdoor family fun. We explored the trails, listened to the birds, and watched the sun sparkle through the leaves. Baby girl LOVED the outdoors! She flashed that adorable smile over and over. Isn't she gorgeous?!

She is clearly adored by her mama and daddy. I can't blame them. It's so easy to get lost in those big, brown eyes! She had me wrapped around her finger too.

I met the beautiful Carbonell family for a fun little session at Norfolk Botanical Gardens recently. They were passing through Hampton Roads in between duty stations and on their way to Japan. What a family adventure! 

I'm so glad I had a chance to meet them to create some lifestyle family photos while they were here. We chose the Norfolk Botanical Gardens for their session. I love shooting at NBG because it's always gorgeous year-round! Even though we had a humid, overcast day...and a few sprinkles too...their session still turned out beautifully! Here are a few favorites from our afternoon at the garden:
