Front Porch Sessions - Hampton Roads Lifestyle Photographer
While many of us are stuck at home, anxious and worried about what the future holds (and also a little stir crazy😜) I thought the #frontstepsproject originally started by a photographer in Massachusetts, would be an ideal way to help make a difference in our community. It’s a way to spread a little joy, without spreading the Coronavirus.
Events and weddings are being cancelled left and right, and group gatherings in public places are not recommended, but I can still do my part to bring some focus back to what is most important in our lives - the love and relationships we share.
Now is the time to lean into that, and to support each other through this struggle. I've decided to offer front steps sessions to our local community for those who would like a family photo at home. Social distancing rules apply, of course, and these sessions will be short and sweet. Just a quick family photo on your porch, taken from a safe distance.
In lieu of a session fee, I ask that you make a minimum $20 donation to The United Way Emergency Relief Fund, Feed America or the Portsmouth Humane Society.

If you ask me, there’s nothing sweeter than those first few days at home with a newborn baby. Those precious fleeting moments of sleepy snuggles, wide-eyed wonder and pure unfiltered love.
I just don’t think anything can top those amazing first days together, when the whole world melts away and nothing matters, but family.
Today I’m sharing images from my newborn lifestyle session with the beautiful Terry family!
They are a military family of four, who invited me into their Suffolk home to document their first moments bringing home baby Hollis.
Big sister made sure to keep a careful eye on baby Hollis, and to shower him with kisses.
She was a big help all throughout the session, giving me a tour and letting me know the laws of the land. :)
She was eager to help keep her baby brother happy with snuggles and bottle feedings. She even climbed into his crib to make sure he wasn’t lonely. She drew the line at diaper changes though!
I love capturing these newborn family moments! These are the photos that will serve as the foundation of a sibling bond and the memory of those foggy first weeks together as a family of four.
Welcome to the world sweet baby Hollis! You certainly are surrounded by love.

As usual, this fall has proven to be a crazy busy time for weddings and photo sessions. I have been cruising all over Hampton Roads for sessions and ceremonies!
It has been a whirlwind, but I have enjoyed every moment. Since I do not currently have the bandwidth to put together a blog post for each session, I’m piling in several sneak peeks for you today. Don’t worry I will, eventually, give each session it’s due.
There are so many fun shots to share! I know this doesn’t do each session full justice, but I wanted to share at least a few for now. I truly appreciate each and every client that spends time with me! Every session is unique, and I love getting to know my families and couples so that I can capture what is most meaningful for them.
From maternity sessions to first birthdays, and engagements to first anniversaries and beyond, it is always an honor to collect these memories for my clients.
I can squeeze in a couple more appointments before the New Year, and I am currently booking weddings for 2020 & 2021. The temps are finally cooling and it is feeling more like fall around here! I’m feeling super excited for all the fun sessions and weddings I have scheduled this season.
Today I have a lovely fall family lifestyle session to share with you. I met the Chartier family at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach to capture some fun fall memories for them.
Their little one was turning one, so we took some time to document that first year sweetness.
Isn’t she adorable?! Have I mentioned lately that “toddler “ is my favorite stage of human? They are just so curious and full of personality!
We explored the park trails for a bit, and then paused for a quick wardrobe change before capturing some first year portraits of Little Miss.
What a perfect model she was! :)
Finally, we hit the beach to take full advantage of the soft sunset light. Mom and Dad brought a few props to incorporate into their portraits, and I think it all came together beautifully!

Lifestyle Photo Sessions - Virginia Beach, VA
Here were are on the cusp of summer and my schedule is getting jammed packed! While I have not been spending much time blogging, I have been shooting quite a bit. I have maternity sessions, family sessions, engagement sessions, newborn sessions and a few weddings to share.
But, time away from shooting, editing, and sending contracts and correspondence is scarce, unfortunately, so I’ve decided to share a few sneak peeks in one blog post.
First up is Sarah & Erica’s beautiful Mariner’s Museum Park maternity session. Mariner’s Museum Park is such a lovely spot for a woodsy outdoor shoot. I love the earthy tones we captured in this sunset mini session.
I also met this happy little family just before Mother’s Day, and we had a fun-filled session at Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach. Red Wing is a great spot for young children because it is fairly safe from traffic, and there are lots of paths to explore.
Then I met the Wrightman crew for a family mini - not once, but twice in this spring! Our first session at Pleasure House Point was unfortunately spoiled by swarming gnats and raindrops. But, we made up for it another day at Red Wing, and this adorable little guy was much happier about that. :)
I also enjoyed a creative beach session with Jeremy - a talented local musician who is getting ready to release an acoustic album and needed some promo pics for his album cover.
Later, I was back at Pleasure House Point, fortunately on a gnat free day, for a family mini session with this sweet family! That little blondie in the overalls stole my heart!
And finally, it was back to the beach for a maternity session with the Mastins and their handsome pooch! We enjoyed a lovely evening shooting at the north end of Virginia Beach at sunset.
I think that’s enough for this post. I’ll be back soon to share a chic downtown engagement session, an Irish wedding at Half Moone Cruise Center, a rainy day Sandbridge Beach wedding, and some Sandbridge beach family sessions! Stay tuned…
