In true summer fashion, this month has been insanely busy with family sessions, engagement portraits, beach sessions and weddings! I have loved seeing so many favorites clients and meeting new families visiting the area. I'm working like mad to keep up with all of the editing. Today I'm sharing some sneak peeks from some recent sessions. 

It's hard to believe that summer is half over already! It has been great fun making memories with all of these beautiful souls. I'm looking forward to more beach sessions and some wedding travel over the next month or so. Stay tuned...

I've got another gorgeous sunset beach session to share today. And these peeps are near and dear to my heart, in fact, they're family! We had a blast playing in the warm sunset light on Chick's Beach last weekend.

We selected the calm bay area for this session because of its kid-friendly atmosphere and its amazing sunset view. That soft, sweet glow just sets the perfect mood for these maternity portraits, don't you think?

It was a special treat to be able to do this session for my beautiful sister and her awesome family. I am SO crazy excited to meet our newest little family member very soon!

Beach Family Photo Session - Sandbridge Photographer

When you live at the beach you walk the shore in every season. A little bit of cold or wind doesn't deter you because you know that the winter sunsets are every bit as gorgeous and worth showing up for as those summer evening skies. The Smith family is lucky enough to live at Sandbridge year-round, and they knew the beach was the perfect place to create some family portraits that represent their lifestyle. 

It was a beautiful but chilly day when we met for our family photo session. We started out at their house and took advantage of their awesome front door as a backdrop. Don't you just love the color?! It's fabulous and their wardrobe selection was spot on too!

Next, we headed down to the oceanfront to create some portraits near the pier and along the beach. Their furry family member, "Woofie", enjoyed a romp in the sand and lead the way for a walk along the water. I love when clients bring their pets - after all they're family too! Including your dog in your session is a great idea.

These beach beauties were a joy to photograph. I love sibling shots because they not only show kids at different stages, but they are also a great way to capture personalities. These two were best buds through and through!

Woofie stole the show for a bit. He has the whole family wrapped around his paw!

We finished off our session with some sunset silhouettes. The last one with Woofie is my favorite from the entire set!

Thank you Smith family for an awesome beach session! I enjoyed spending the evening with you.  And thank you, Woofie, for being such a fun subject to capture!

I love shooting in new locations. It's always exciting to explore the creative possibilities of an new site. And while I do enjoy the beach quite a bit, I also ADORE urban themed sessions. The lines, the architecture, the way the light bounces around off walls and windows, the busy street scene, these are all things that draw me to this type of session. So when the Walters family asked to shoot their session around the boardwalk area in Virginia Beach, a place they frequent often, I was game! 

I love that their gallery is a reflection of their lifestyle and personalities. I had a blast exploring the Virginia Beach oceanfront area with mom & dad and their adorable boys! Here are some of my favorites from our recent urban family session:

Hampton Roads offers a ton of variety in scenery for family, engagement, and senior sessions. We really are lucky to live in an area that includes beach, riverfront, historic, urban, rustic and wooded natural areas, all within driving distance. There are so many possibilities to explore. I can't wait to see what my next session brings! What's your favorite session for a photo session?

Spring Cherry Blossom Mini Sessions

Spring is on it’s way and the gorgeous Cherry Trees will soon be blooming! I have time this year for only three mini sessions during the bloom season. These are some of my favorite sessions throughout the entire year! These gorgeous blossoms can’t be beat for the perfect spring portrait back drop. If you wish to snag one of these appointments, don’t delay. These spots will go quickly!

Details about these seasonal portrait mini sessions:

 $200: Session includes 20 minutes of the photographer’s time. Up to 4 family members may be included in your session. Additional subjects will incur an additional fee. 5 retouched high resolution digital images will be available for download from your online proofing gallery. Gallery will be ready two weeks after session date. Print purchases may be placed a la carte through your personal online gallery. A contract and invoice payment are required to reserve an appointment. VA Sales tax will be added to invoices when applicable. Please note:  Peak bloom time varies from year to year. Appointments will be scheduled for late March/early April. I only schedule a small handful of these sessions to allow flexibility for weather and bloom time changes. I cannot, however, guarantee that blooms will be at their peek for your session date. I will make every effort to schedule appointments for peak bloom days.  All appointments will take place in the evening. Please inquire for further details.
