I'm sharing peeks today from a sweet little newborn lifestyle session in Norfolk.

I met the Van Hooks just before Easter, at their lovely home in the Larchmont area. They have a brand new baby boy, Jackson, and he is just the bees knees, I tell ya.

Mom and Dad are doing a fantastic job of sharing the new work load, and all the trials and tribulations that come along with caring for an infant 24/7.

They were warm, friendly, and laid back, with that easy southern charm that makes you feel right at home from the moment you pull up in the driveway. 

I loved spending time getting to know this beautiful family, and it was such a treat to be able to document this special time for them. I truly adore newborn lifestyle sessions, and I've got another to share with you soon! Stay tuned...

Several weeks ago I shared this maternity beach session with you, along with my excitement over having a new nephew on the way. And today, I finally have some newborn baby pics to share! This sweet bundle of melt-your-heart goodness was born in late July.

He is absolute perfection, and has the best big sister any dude could ask for.

His parents are pretty rad too. 

Look how sweet! Big sis' likes to sing to him. 

It has been a few years since we've had a baby in the family. My own "babies" are all big kiddos now, so I am eating those baby snuggles up!

I am so happy for my sister and brother-in-law! It's wonderful to have a healthy new babe to smooch on, and I'm SO excited to watch him grow up. <3

Some sweet baby goodness is coming your way today! Gosh I love in-home newborn sessions! Not only does it remind me of those first emotional, sleep-deprived, overwhelmed-by-love days with my own babies, but it brings me back to why I was so enamored with photography in the first place. I am a visual storyteller. I have always been drawn to human stories wrapped up in tiny fleeting moments - a gentle touch, a wistful look, a shared laugh, and even the cozy, personal details of a carefully planned nursery - they are all part of this baby's heritage. They are his roots and they will help him define his place in this world. The memories made in these kinds of tiny moments will carry him through future moments of doubt and sadness. They will also enrich all his joyful reasons to celebrate life. They are the tapestry of his life story. And they are SO worth hanging on to. 

I first met Jaime and Steve as we were planning their maternity session a few months back. I absolutely loved working with them, so naturally I was thrilled when they asked me to document their sweet boy's welcome into the family. The "Blizzard of 2017" swooped in and changed our plans for an early January session. It was no matter though, the day we shot turned out to be just perfect. Here are some highlights from our sweet-as-can-be in home newborn session:

Oh, how I adore in home newborn sessions! There is nothing more precious than those first few weeks at home with a newborn. Seriously. Life doesn’t get sweeter than this.

I had the honor of photographing maternity portraits for this beautiful Virginia Beach couple last spring and knew immediately that they would be amazing parents! I was so excited to meet their baby boy! We planned an in home session for shortly after they returned from the hospital and we all waited anxiously for his debut! This session, like their maternity session, is one of my all time favorites to date. This gorgeous family will forever hold a warm spot in my heart. I am so thankful to have such wonderful clients and to be able to collect these beautiful memories for them.
